Top 7 movies you should watch this Season

Image
If you are like me who likes to just curl up and watch a good movie, or read a good book after a long day, welcome to Limitless!  Here are the top 7 movies you should watch this season.  7. A California Christmas                                        Photo from IMDb  You’ve probably come across a story like this. Cliche, but who cares? We already know the ending, we just want to see how the events unfold. This story has a gripping plot though.  A wealthy guy poses as a farmhand to convince a country girl to sell her farmland. What happens when she discovers he’s been fooling her?🤔 Trust me, I would have slept off before the first half if I didn’t like it.  Add it to your watchlist. The second part is out, and to be honest, it’s mid. There isn’t much drama, and I like drama! I didn’t like the way it started off too. Some movies are better left at part 1! However, since the first part is nice, I suggest you watch it.  6. A Naija Christmas  Photo from IMDb A woman with three problematic

What have you come here seeking? Where are you from? You have come where no one ever reaches You have stepped where no one ever treads Who are you? Who are your parents? Since the owner of the world created the world, no one ever did such a thing You are so bold as to enter the town of cruelty The heads you brought here  You won't see them any longer The legs you walked here with  They become the gods’ own You won't try that again -Excerpt from The Palmwine Drinkard by Amos Tutuola “The picture you see above is from a play, The Palmwine Drinkard, where I played the role of The Cruel King- Oba Ìkà, the hardest role I’ve ever played. I was so into the character that it started affecting my everyday life. I found myself laughing hysterically as the king would do; method acting almost messed me up.” - Victor Alausa ————— Today, on Limitless, Victor Alausa talks to us about his highly demanding, but exciting experience as a Theatre Arts student at the University of Ibadan.  —————— W

5 Funniest Superstitions I’ve ever heard

Image
Welcome to Limitless! Today, let’s talk about superstitious beliefs that we grew up hearing.  1. If you lean on the wall while thunder strikes, your house will collapse. Someone should try this first, I want to check something😂😂 because I never tried it. How on earth did I believe this. A big lie.  2. If someone crosses your leg when you are pregnant, or you pass over someone’s legs while you are pregnant, your child will look like that person.  How abeg?😂 How does that make sense?  3. If you stand by the door while it’s raining, thunder will strike you, and your head will fly off.  Femi told me about this one. 😂😂😂 4. If you look at the mirror after 12 midnight, evil spirits will attack you.  Edna told me this, and she said she still finds it weird to look at the mirror after 12am. 😂😂 5. A tiger is giving birth whenever it’s sunny and raining at the same time .  This might be true though. Hm🤔 ———————— Thanks for reading guys!  What other superstitions did you hear or believe

Physical or Spiritual?- My experience with a mentally ill woman

Image
Welcome to Limitless!  This is going to be very short.  Has something ever happened to you, and you just completely froze, not knowing what to do? Let me tell you one of my experiences.  One afternoon about 7 years ago, I followed my mum to the bank.  I didn’t want to go inside the bank with her, so, I opted to wait in the car.  I can remember that I was very bored and tired.  Before I knew it, I had dozed off. It was a very light sleep because I was still conscious of my surrounding.  Meanwhile, I was in the passenger’s seat with the driver’s and my own window down.  All of a sudden, I felt a presence in my space.  I opened my eyes, and I saw a woman clothed in rags, with hair turning to dreads because of all the years it’s been left uncombed, backing a doll, and pointing a 20 naira note to me.  A mentally ill woman.  I completely froze.  She was pointing it through the driver’s window, with her body almost all the way in.  I couldn’t even scream because my brain was still processing.

How to listen actively in relationships

Image
Welcome to Limitless!  Today, we want to specifically dive into the relationship segment of this blog.  Let’s talk about listening actively in relationships.  Before you shake your head in denial and close this page because you aren’t in a relationship, just wait a minute, three minutes at most, and hear me out.  Foremost, let us understand that no one is perfect. We all have our shortcomings. As a result, I think we would all admit that there is no perfect relationship. However, without a doubt, we can have healthy relationships.  One key factor that defines a healthy relationship is great communication, and listening is a major part of communication. How? Listening is a feedback, and it also determines feedback. Think about it.  Now, there is a difference between merely hearing and active listening. You know that moment when someone says “are you listening to me?” while you are scrolling through your phone, and you reply with “yes, I’m not deaf, I can hear you”.  Let me just tell you

The Queen of Bad Decisions

Image
Hii! Welcome to Limitless!  I was watching a series- Never Have I Ever- recently. As I saw the decisions Devi- the main character was taking, I thought to myself, “damn, this girl is the queen of bad decisions”. There and then, a voice said to me “are you any better?” I really thought about it and had a flashback of my high school. To be honest, I took some rash decisions too and there are some things I would do better if given a second chance.  Everyone has a story, and I’m sure if they knew better they would take better decisions. Let’s stop jumping into conclusions or judging people.  Before you get me wrong there is a difference between this and condoning bad behavior.  Condoning bad behavior is approving when someone does something bad or makes a bad decision. On the contrary, not judging is not being hasty to point fingers after knowing just a part of the story.  At the end of the day, we all make bad decisions. What matters is how we rectify them and apply those corrections to o

Welcome to Limitless!  ——————— Sku tum pum p … I watched in horror as my sick gen went off and started to emit so much fume. Ah, aye o!  This thing has succeeded in embarrassing me. Kunle instinctively clasped his hand on mine and pulled me away from the choking smell of the fume.  “Oh my days. Did I do something wrong? Was the fuel gauge on?” Kunle asked, with genuine concern in his voice. I wanted to be serious for once but I burst out in laughter and looked at him unbelievably, “Yes, it was on. But, take a look at this gen. Does it look okay?” Ah! Gigabyte! This rascal has scammed me again. My hard earned 10k. Hm! “Tanwa, what happened?” Came my sister’s voice, “ Eh , wait, what’s this? Why are you using this type of gen?” She stared at me in disbelief. I tried to suppress my giggle but I started laughing immediately I looked at Kunle’s face. This guy has a very contagious smile. The kind that would make you burst into laughter immediately if you’re trying to be serious. I turned to

Emotional Sensitivity

As much as your words have the power to comfort, they also have the power to crush a person’s soul.  Welcome to Limitless!  Have you ever thought about why some friendships or relationships end because of just one word? Did you know that just your words can leave a lifetime damage on someone?  However, I believe there is a way we can have better friendships and relationships, by being sensitive to people’s emotions. Thus, there are are some words we should not say to people because whether they react or not, those words could cut deep.  1. “You’ll be fine” I know you are already like ‘👀wait what? What’s bad in that?’ Okay, hear me out. There are some times that it might be okay to say this word.  But, imagine you vent to a close friend about something, you pour out all your heart, you are sad, weak and on the brink of tears. Then, they just give you a cold “you’ll be fine” and walk out.  I consider the word inappropriate because it gives me the vibe of “deal with it yourself, it happe

Welcome to Limitless! —————— Tears. This is the one thing about living alone. When you have money, you enjoy and chop life alone. When there is no money, you suffer alone. Omo. This life is one kind. How can a whole me Omotanwa Olowe be eating 50 naira fufu and soup with no meat. Eii God abeg .  Alawee has finished like this. If not for this my nonsense ‘I better pass my neighbor gen’ that keeps having fault, it wouldn’t have finished so fast. I’ve spent 10k on it just this month. Maybe it’s even that Tunde boy that is spoiling the gen further. The gen never ceases to give me problems. Why is the power supply in this place so terrible?  I paid electricity bill 14,500 naira. When it’s not as if it’s only me that is using light in Nigeria .  Maybe I should get a meter because I’m very sure I don’t use up to 15k worth of power. These thieves. Mtchw .  I’ve spent 5k on transport. Owo ti ku waso (money is remaining 50 naira). 3,500 naira actually. Wait how come it was just 2k in my purse
