The Undoing

Welcome to Limitless! This is the third part of ‘The Feyinti Series’. 

It’s been three weeks since Jide pulled his ‘peace offering’ stunt. That day was the last day we had an actual conversation. He has been so distant. Meanwhile, Alex and I have been growing closer. I just love his vibe because we connect on so many levels. We had exchanged numbers about two weeks ago. He makes me laugh so much and he is just the sweetest. I had not gone out with him yet, not that he didn’t ask but I just felt like I couldn’t do it since I was in a relationship.

Wait what? I choked on the water I was drinking and shifted my gaze to the wall in front of me. I blinked twice to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating. 

‘Happy 6 months anniversary LOML’ was the caption at the bottom of my boyfriend’s post. 6 freaking months! He was facing the camera with a grin while a girl’s hands were wrapped around his neck with her back to the camera. I could only see her wig and earrings coupled with Jide’s wide smile. The one I fell in love with. 

Huh? Am I dreaming? 

Jide has never taken a lovey-dovey picture like this with me. 

I’m 99.9 percent sure that it’s the Cynthia girl. If not, then, I’ve been fooled big time. 

What kind of lie does he even want to cook up this time ‘round because this is an obvious act. 

So, I dropped down and sat on the floor with my back against the bed. I bowed my head and allowed the tears flow freely. I was so confused, sad and angry.

I looked up as I heard someone barge into my room. It was my best friend, Wunmi. Her arms were wide-open in her white jallabiya as she walked towards me and pulled me into a hug. Gosh. I love this girl’s hugs so much. Always so comforting. 

“Aww. Babeee, let me wipe those tears. I had to run here immediately I saw that fool’s upload. I knew you might be like this.” She quickly said. 

“Thank you. I’m just weak, your friend has entered one chance like this” I replied in a hushed tone having no strength to talk loudly. That act was a big slap on the face. 

“You know what? We have to Netflix and chill this night. This boy is obviously playing with your feelings and you can’t continue staying with someone like this no matter how long you’ve been together”. She said in a very honest voice.

I sighed heavily and shook my head.

“I think you should call him because he obviously has no respect for you!” She added. 

“Sincerely, I’m done with his trash. Why does he even have to make me feel like a fool. He could have just told me he was in love with another person. Then, voila, I’d have let him go! This is so messed up. This guy knows we have mutual friends so, I don’t get the point of this type of embarrassment” I replied angrily.

So, I picked up my phone and dialed his number. His voice came up after two rings, “Hello baby”. He said. 

Huh? What?! Baby?...
