Limitless Gist- My First Culture Shocks

Image
Welcome to Limitless!  I’ve backspaced so many times, and I just keep thinking of what to write. It’s like having so many things in your head, but you don’t know which exactly to pick. It do be like that sometimes, so I’m just going with the flow. Okay, delete that. Let’s pretend I’m perfect😄.  Let’s talk about My First Culture Shocks in Canada.  First culture shock for me when I came to Canada was “oh, I actually need to wear socks”.  Photo from Kate Laine on Unsplash  I always wondered why people in colder continents wore socks in their houses whenever I saw pictures and videos of them. Is it aesthetics or are they wearing it for aesthetics? Or is it the same reason people wear bathroom slippers back in Nigeria? Anyways, I got a firsthand answer. No one taught me to go throw a pair of socks on by the time the “inside cold” hit my leg. Apparently, the feet and palms get colder faster.  Second culture shock was liquid milk.  Photo from  Nikolai C...

Celebrating Others while Waiting

Image
Welcome to Limitless!  Today, let’s talk about celebrating others while waiting. I know this is one of those tough conversations, but hear me out.  Celebrating others while waiting can sometimes prove to be difficult.  I forgot that I had this topic in my blog draft until I saw a post on Twitter a few days ago. The user posted about how she had been praying the same prayers for about four years, I think, and she hasn’t gotten any answer yet.  She said, and I’m paraphrasing, that she gets sad whenever she sees other people’s testimonies and sometimes just log off while she’s watching the challenge probably because she was tired of asking for the same things with no results.  Moment of vulnerability- this exact thing happened to me some years ago. I was so sad about things not working in my life and didn’t see the need of repeating the same prayer points. So, I didn’t join the Hallelujah challenge that particular day.  How do people wait on God for 10,...

Image
Photo by Amir Esrafili on Unsplash  Welcome to Limitless!  What’s your most memorable Valentine? Have you ever had a Valentine when you were expecting to receive a gift, but you didn’t?  Have you even ever had a real Valentine’s? That’s a question for you single pringles😭🫢😂. Okay okay. Small joke.  I did an anonymous survey of people’s most memorable Valentine’s Experience. The following are the responses: 1. ‘Wow. Hmm let me see. I think the best Valentine’s Day ever was the very first one with my now hubby. I was visiting family in Nigeria; hubby was in the UK that period and he surprised me with cake, flowers, wine and the likes. Special delivery for me to my     childhood house.   It was very special because it was the first time my grandma got to find out about him and see the prayers she rained over him that day. It was a very very very great first impression of him to my family and vice versa. Definitely a Val’s day I would never forget’. My ...

Relationship People, Rest Abeg.

Image
Welcome to Limitless!  It’s February! Can I get a woohooooo🥳💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾.  Okay okay, let me calm down. I love February so much, I’m guessing you know the reason already. Hehe.  ~  Single people! Don’t let anybody pepper or pressure you!! Relationship people, never compare!! Anddd let us hear word👀. Okay okay, don’t bite me.  I want us to talk about comparison though.  You’ve probably heard the saying, “comparison is the thief of joy”. Comparison is that situation whereby instead of being grateful and happy for the little or much you have, you measure it with other people’s journey.  Stay with me.  To my Single People If you know that seeing people flaunt their Valentine gifts or relationships always makes you over-think your non-existent relationship life, just avoid wedding pages, at least for now! That, my friend, is hack number one. Guyssss, let me even gist you. That’s how I saw a couple kissing deeply on a wedding page today. Ahhhh ! Ahnah...
